We only accept clients who have been on Amsterdam UMC’s (VUmc) waiting list the longest and have been contacted personally by Amsterdam UMC. If you have been contacted personally by Amsterdam UMC, the referral letter from your GP must be addressed to Gender Clinic Mental Health and request specialist psychological care. We will add you to the waiting list after we receive your referral letter. |
We will add you to the waiting list for a preliminary consultation after we receive your referral letter (if you are receiving treatment from a university medical centre) or following a positive multidisciplinary team meeting at Gender Clinic (through our mental health care partners). Waiting times for operations are calculated starting from the time of your preliminary consultation.

Waiting list mediation
If you feel that the waiting time is too long, you can always contact your health insurer to request waiting list mediation. That means that your health insurer will try to arrange access to care sooner. This service is free of charge. You can request waiting list mediation from your health insurer over the phone or online.
